nnnnThe Keithley KUSB-3100 Series brings true
nnnnplug-and-play data acquisition to computers that
nnnncontain Universal Serial Bus (USB) 2.0 and 1.1
nnnnports. No more opening up your computer chassis
nnnnto install boards—just plug in the module, install
nnnnthe included software, and you are ready to make
nnnnmeasurements. It's easy and efficient.
nnnnWhy USB?
nnnnToday, virtually all desktop and laptop PCs provide USB ports. In addition, USB ports can easily be
nnnnadded to existing PCI-bus machines. Equally important, these USB ports have full software support
nnnnunder the most popular computer operating systems, including Microsoft® Windows 2000, XP,
nnnnVista, and 7.
nnnnEasy to Install, Easy to Share
nnnnUSB devices are true "plug-and-play." There is no setting of address lines, interrupts, or configuration
nnnnjumpers. The host PC automatically identifies a KUSB-3100 Series module when it is plugged in and
nnnnsearches for the software necessary to operate it. The first time a module is used, the user is prompted
nnnnto install the drivers and application, a process that takes just a few minutes. Ease of installation
nnnnmeans the KUSB-3100 Series modules can be shared between both laptop and desktop computers.
nnnnHot-Swappable
nnnnThe KUSB-3100 Series USB modules are hot-swappable, designed to be installed and removed while
nnnnthe computer is running. All you need to do is plug the module into a USB port when you need to
nnnnuse the module, and remove it when you are done.
nnnnSoftware
nnnnEvery KUSB module includes the following software tools:
nnnn• Quick DataAcq: A menu-driven, ready-to-run application that lets you verify the operation of
nnnnyour KUSB module. You can exercise the major features of your module as well as plot data on the
nnnnscreen and save data to disk.
nnnn• quickDAQ: A high performance .NET based data collection and analysis software application that
nnnnallows you to acquire analog data, plot it during acquisition, analyze it, and save it to disk.
nnnn• Open Layers: A DataAcq Software Development Kit (SDK), allowing programmers to develop
nnnnapplication programs for the KUSB-3100 Series using ANSI C, Visual C++ 6.0, and Visual Basic 6.0
nnnnin Windows 2000, XP, Vista, and 7. Also included is DTx-EZ, a visual programming tool for Visual
nnnnBasic and Visual C++.
nnnn• Open Layers for .NET: A set of classes, methods, properties, and events that provide a program-
nnnnming interface for the KUSB-3100 Series in .NET development environments including Visual
nnnnBasic.NET, Visual C#, Visual C++.NET with managed extensions, and Visual J#.NET.
nnnn• LabVIEW® Vis: Allow LabVIEW programmers to access the capabilities of the
